Privacy and Security
We respect your privacy. Your name, address and email are only used by us to send out newsletters and any orders you may place.Where we are required to use a third party provider for particular features to work, such as MailChimp or such other provider (for newletters), any personal information you provide (e.g. your email address) will be stored by the third party provider. Otherwise we will never provide your personal details to anyone else unless we have your permission.
Safe Storage of Credit Card Information
When ordering, your credit card information is sent directly to the credit card merchant and encrypted on a secure SSL Shopify authorised server (Stripe), which has the highest level of payment processing security compliance available (PC1). We do NOT store your credit card details on our system.
The Crimson checkout is secure. The pages hang out on a SSL secure server that encrypts the data at time of entry. The URL for the payment page starts with https. The 's' indicates that the site is secure. On most browsers you can click on the https to see the Security Certificate. The padlock next to the https also tells you that a site is secure.
If you have a My Account, a key derivation function called bcrypt is used to hash your password. So if you type in say ‘fiDo25’ and submit, it turns 'fiDo25' into an encrypted hash. We never see or store your actual password. Your stored shipping address and order history live in our secure/https admin. Once you are securely logged in, it is relayed so you can view on your My Account page. With a strong password that is known only to you, no one else can access that information.
Use of Cookies
We use cookies on our site where they are required for particular features to work. For example, we use user-input cookies for the duration of a session to keep track of a user’s input when filling in forms that span several pages.We also use functional cookies to remember choices you’ve made or information you’ve provided, such as your username, language, or the region you are in. This allows us to tailor your website experience specifically to your preferences.
We do use social networking services such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to communicate with the public about our products. When you communicate with us using these services, the social networking service may collect your personal information for its own purposes. These services may track your use of our website on those pages where their links are displayed. If you are logged in to those services (including any Google service) while using our site, their tracking will be associated with your profile with them. These services have their own privacy policies which are independent of ours.
