Where Our Organic Cotton Comes From — and Why It Matters

At Crimson Organic, we believe the materials that go into your period products should be as pure and trustworthy as possible. That’s why we’ve chosen certified organic cotton — grown, processed, and shipped under the most rigorous ethical and environmental standards. Here’s how it all comes together.

Grown in Trusted Organic Farms

Our organic cotton is predominantly grown and harvested in a region of Turkey renowned for producing the longest organic cotton fibres in the world — naturally reducing the risk of microbial infection. When required, additional organic cotton is sourced from Germany and Kazakhstan to maintain consistent quality and supply. We’ve been working with the same family farms for generations, ensuring continuity and reliability.

Manufactured in Europe’s Leading Organic Factory

Once harvested, the cotton is sent to our manufacturer in Slovenia (just north of Italy) — Europe’s only tampon factory dedicated exclusively to organic cotton. This facility has been producing tampons for 95 years, using state-of-the-art technology for organic tampon production. Thanks to their experience and focus, they were able to maintain uninterrupted supply even through COVID, and we carry stock in our local NZ warehouse to ensure reliability.

Our products and processes carry GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and ICEA (Istituto per la Certificazione Etica e Ambientale) certifications.

Shipped and Managed Locally

From Europe, the finished tampons are shipped to our third-party logistics warehouse in Tauranga, and dispatched to our New Zealand customers from there. This allows us to maintain tight control over quality and availability, reducing lead times and improving reliability for you.
